ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt. AFC holds the same views. In this regard AFC is promoting regeneration agriculture & agro-forestry techniques in farming communities in the South west and North West regions of Cameroon. This is aimed at reducing deforestation, increasing soil health, encouraging afforestation and mitigating the negative effects of climate change given that 95% of communities in these regions depend on farming or agriculture for their livelihood. In Konye sub division AFC has organized training workshops on regeneration agriculture/agro-forestry techniques, provided basic farm tools, and established four giant agro-forestry nurseries with the capacity of over 5000 seedlings each in Dikome and timber road communities.
